Ulrike Lehr studied physics at the University of Essen (graduated in 1990) and economics at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (M.Sc. Econ). Between 1993 and 1999 she worked at the Rhine-Westphalia Institute for Economic Research (RWI) in Essen. From 1999 she worked at the Department of Environmental Economy, BTU Cottbus; from 2001 at the Department of Regulatory Governance and Environmental Economics at the University of Hohenheim. She wrote her doctoral thesis in 2005 on the transfer of benefits in environmental assessment and the application of the contingent valuation method. Between 2005 and 2008 she worked in the Department of Systems Analysis and Technology Assessment at the DLR Institute for Technical Thermodynamics in Stuttgart. Since 2008, Ulrike Lehr has been working at the GWS.
